How to setup your free Comodo SSL by cPanel

RedyHost cPanel account holders now can enjoy the free SSL certificates (domain validated) provided by cPanel and Comodo. Whether you already have an account with us or signing up for a new account, qualify for cPanel’s free Auto SSL. This page aims to help our customers and prospects understanding how the Auto SSL function works, when the free SSL certificates are generated and when they are renewed.

When your free SSL becomes available.

Our cPanel servers track every new and existing account and the new and free SSL certificate is generated overnight during daily cron run.

I have signed up for a cPanel account and do not see any SSL certificates yet

When signing up for a cPanel account with RedyHost, a free cPanel SSL certificate is not immediately generated, but it is created overnight. Please be patient and check for your domain validated SSL the next morning after you sign up. If for any reason you do not see a SSL certificate, please contact our support.

I host multiple domains, subdomains, add-on domains in my account. How does free SSL works for me?

The free Auto SSL is set to protect every domain in every account. This applies to the main domain, add-on domains, alias domains and subdomains that are configured. This includes automated SSL renewals.

My free Auto SSL is due to expire in N days. Will it renew automatically?

Yes, the free Auto SSL will renew automatically 3 days before the expiry date. RedyHost cannot renew the free Auto SSL for you.

I have a free Auto SSL, but want to install a paid SSL certificate

Whether you want to install one or more SSL certificates (only one SSL certificate could be applied at a time), for example organisation validated SSL or Extended validation (EV) SSL, you can do so via cPanel. Please check this documentation page on how to install a SSL certificate.

How to ensure if your SSL is installed correctly

SSL certificates are installed automatically by cPanel. If you have concerns or just want to check if the SSL is installed correctly, just use Comodo’s SSL installation checker at https://sslanalyzer.comodoca.com.

Does free SSL works with Nginx server

cPanel uses Nginx server as upstream reverse caching proxy or web server. Whenever a SSL certificate is installed on a domain, sub-domain or add-on domain it is automatically installed or updated in Nginx, so you have nothing to worry about. If you are concerned that your website is using the right SSL certificate, just use SSL installation analyser by Comodo https://sslanalyzer.comodoca.com

How does free Auto SSL ranks in security rating

You can validate the security rating of our web servers via Qualys® Labs free SSL Server test https://www.ssllabs.com/ssltest/analyze.html It should report the highest available rating A and RedyHost team constantly monitor the security of our cPanel servers to ensure the highest SSL security rank is maintained
